Abstract
Scholars in the field may initially feel blase, even chagrined, by the appearance of yet another book on the Bhagavad-gita, on which surely more books have been written than on any other sacred Hindu text since Charles Wilkins opened the floodgates, as it were, by publishing its first English translation in 1785. I must therefore confess that it was with some skepticism that I approached the task of reviewing “yet another” book on the Bhagavad-gita. As I journeyed through the book, however, the sentiment of skepticism began to yield to one of engaged criticism, until that too was transformed into one of appreciation.
