Abstract
This is an unusual and important book: unusual in that the author died ten years ago in an automobile accident, before finishing the Ph.D. thesis that has now become this book; important in that it attempts to present the bhakti-theology of one of the twentieth-century’s most important religious founders. In addition, the delicate tasks of introducing the author, editing his text, and then writing its essential last chapter, is undertaken by a skilled colleague who was a dear friend as well as co-religionist. It has been, finally, a fifteen-year task at least. The complex labor of love was well worth the effort.
