Abstract
Though many scholars and practicing Hindus have heard of Mådhva Vedånta, few know what it is really all about. They may know that
Madhvåcårya proclaims himself to be the third incarnation (avatåra) of Våyu, the wind God, and was born of Ûiva¬¬i Brahmin parents in the village of Påjakakßetra near modern day U∂upi in the Tulunadu area of southern Karnataka state. They may have also heard that Madhvåcårya studied with Vyåsa, who was the author of the Brahma Sütras and an avatåra of Lord Visnu himself.
